Moldova - Natalia Barbu - In The Middle

digital release image
2007 Eurovision star Natalia Barbu gets another chance to represent Moldova in the contest with the song In The Middle.
She wrote the song herself with Khris Richards.
The digital single was released on January 19.

There are some tiny differences between the original version and the one on the Malmö album. (See comments, very well spotted "Top 17")

Natalia Burbu competed in the 2007 Helsinki contest with the song Fight and she finished 10th in both the (one) semi and the final.
See below for some more trivia on Natalia's 2007 entry and another National Final.

Versions

In The Middle - single version

Moldova's Etapa Națională 2024 had its final on February 17.
The first selection of 32 31 30 songs was performed at a broadcasted live audition and a jury chose 11 entries to go to the final.
Malmö veteran Aliona Moon withdrew but moved on to the juries.
Several songs have been released as digital singles. Check your playlists at Spotify or Youtube. This TRM YT playlist has videos including all live auditions.

2007 Fight
From the Helsinki Collection Files:
Fight was only Moldova's third entry and the broadcaster didn't have much funds. The story was that they would only pay for Natalia's costs if she would make it to the top 10, otherwise she would have to pay for it herself (with some help from Catmusic). But in the end she did just enough to keep her out of financial troubles, fisnishing 10th in the final. (and later marrying a millionaire).

In 2013 Natalia had a song titled Confession in the Romanian selection. But she didn't make it to the final finishing 13th in the first semi final.

  1. There is a slight difference between the Single version on Spotify and the 'revamped' Eurovision version on the official Malmö cd. Yes, it's barely recognizable and can hardly be called a revamp. And I had to listen to them a lot of times to spot the difference (somewhat obsessed to find it). But on 1'11" at the start of the 2nd verse there is a small beat on the Eurovision version that is missing on the Spotify single version. If there are other differences they are very subtle and I haven't spotted them yet.

  2. Thank you, that is very well spotted, the beat/thud repeats twice. Had to listen like a 100 times :)
