25 - 16 pts / 10 - 43 pts in semi 2
Gåte are the winners of this year's Norwegian Melodi Grand Prix with their song Ulveham (Wolfskin). The band beat jury favorites KEiiNO by winning the televote.
Ulveham, written by Gunhild Sundli, Jon Even Schärer, Magnus Børmark, Sturla Eide with Ronny Graff Janssen, didn't get there without some trouble.
the digital release image hasn't changed |
It can also be found on a compilation 2LP Huldra released on December 5.
An edit for the Melodi Grand Prix was released on January 5 (also first through Bandcamp) but it included a 1000 year old Nordic text Møya i Ulveham (The Maid in Wolf Skin) and an intro based on a recording by Marit Jensen Lillebuen.
After deliberation the song was adapted before the MGP final and the new version was released as a digital track on February 2.
At Spotify the new version replaces the first edit but other sources still have both versions available seperately.
The MGP line-up of Gåte is John Stenersen, Gunhild Sundli, Mats Paulsen, Magnus Børmark and Jon Even Shärer. Gåte loosely translates as riddle or enigma
Huldra
The 2LP Huldra, released on December 5 2023, has highlights of their career (they have been around since 1999) plus two new songs one being the original Ulveham.
(Indie recordings INDIE268LP)
The album is available through several European "indie" stores. While stocks last?

Ulveham the album
A compilation CD and LP including Ulveham will be released on June 16. It's titled Ulveham and will be available on CD and green vinyl LP.
The digital version is already out (May 3).

From Gåte's blurb:
"The album, which also called Ulveham, consist of Gåte's latest songs from their release Vandrar, as well as three carefully chosen live favorites that has (sic) been especially well received by the Gåte audience this last year.
One of these is new and unique live recording of their song "Kjærleik", where they are joined by the amazing folk choir Koret Artemis".
